Good things bad things

Yesterday on top of Feeble’s bleeding throat, Stu lost feeling in his left arm and leg, it was fairly unsettling especially as we didn’t have enough money to pay for him to be seen at the hospital. Stu went to the hotel with Olly and they slept, hoping to feel better in the morning. Paul, Reuben and myself played the show anyway as a three piece. It was fucking sweet, we played three songs instrumentally and then carnage ensued as Wade, Jaye and George all got up and sang with us. Rad. The beer flowed and the night slowly became one of the best of my life, I don’t know where to start but there was definitely a bear chase, which, lets be honest, is fucking stupid. Also 10 people in a cab, breaking into a hotel hot tub, getting kicked out of a hotel hot tub, breaking back in to get my hoodie,  laughing,  punching, MILKY MILKY! 130 bucks on the minibar, beard burning shots, staying up till six and hanging out with some of the raddest dudes I know. Kyle too plenty of pictures so hopefully there will be some to follow. Awesome.

This whole leg of the tour has been great, I’ve never been to BC before but it is beautiful, I fell asleep on the prairies and woke up in the mountains and I swear it was the closest I’ve ever come to believing in God. The ferry back across from Victoria was pretty special too, still no whales but at least it wasn’t raining and I hung out on the deck and checked out the scenery, good good times.

I should probably also say that Stu has recovered and Feeble is on the mend too, we’ll be back to full force soon enough.

Bark! Cough! Bark! Hark! – the story

Posted in Uncategorized on September 28, 2008 by johnnytruantband

So the last few days have been a roller coaster…..

When we stopped over in Vancouver on the way to Victoria i started coughing up blood. No fun. (maybe it was the Tubby Dog). After playing one show in Victoria i had to call it and go see a doctor as it was starting to get worrying. I was coughing like a Harley Davidson crossed with a pig. The doctor pretty much told me i had to stop singing immediately and give me these crazy antibiotics to ram down my throat. Other than that i have been taking pretty much everything shoppers Drug Mart has to offer and i haven’t drank any booze in over a week. Yes people over week………

So for the last few days Johnny Truant has been playing instrumental. I just want to say a huge thank you to the guys in the band for making it work and killing it every night regardless of the situation. It hurts not being able to play but its also been a pleasure to watch them. I also wanna thank Wade and George ( Black lungs / Alexisonfire ) and Jaye ( Cancer Bats) for filling in on vocals. Everyone on this tour is the best and has rallied together to make things work. Im on tour with some of the best people i know and its an amazing feeling.

So the throat is on the mend the blood is ceasing so all is well. Tomorrow I’m gonna sing again.

I  hugged wade completely naked this morning.
I think im gonna get jaye to tattoo ‘Be Good’ on me tomorow.

Fuck coughing up blood and fuck getting sick.

TUBBY DOG

Tubby Dog….possibly the greatest yet most dangerous thing on the planet.

Hot dogs like you wouldn’t believe.

This place was like heaven.

You can pretty much have anything with your hot dog. Alan and i had the biggest one they offered which was….

A hotdog wrapped in bacon deep fried
Cheese
Onions
Chillie
ham
ketchup
mustard
a fried egg

This place was unreal

Thank you Tubby Dog. Thank you.

I’m sitting on merch in Victoria, we’re onstage for our second show of the day in about 15 minutes.. the soundguys are still at the bar next door eating dinner, so I figured if they’re too bone idle to mic up the drum kit and give olly any sort of microphone at all, I can be lazy too and sit writing a blog when I should be warming up.

The first show today was sweet, other than Olly spitting up blood between songs.. right now he’s dying backstage, it’s pretty brutal. I’m trying ot help as best I can by drinking his share of the rider for him.

Check out these awesome shirts two girls made and wore to our Toronto show the other week -

You can click on the little girls to make them bigger. If you don’t know what Hippo Wank means then watch our studio diaries on youtube…

Victoria

Got up at 6 this morning to get the ferry to Victoria, it rained the whole way on the crossing so I watched Harris play pacman. He is the best pacman player I have ever seen. This didn’t make up for the fact that we didn’t see a single whale on the way over though, Canada fails me yet again, first the Humpty’s Famous Cowboy Breakfast and now this….

Getting up at 6 is pretty shit.
